Citizen Science

Monthly • Check for Upcoming Dates

    1. Welcome to Citizen Science - a free, hands-on program where visitors of all ages can take part in real scientific research. These sessions spotlight a unique citizen science project each week. Guests can explore new tools, contribute data, and connect with both local and global scientific efforts.

    2. UPCOMING EVENTS:

    3. Mosquito Habitat Mapper

    4. Sunday, June 28th

    5. Mosquitos, while a key part of the food chain (and how the scientists in Jurassic Park found dino DNA,) aren’t so great to have around human spaces. With Mosquito Habitat Mapper, we can document and help prevent the overpopulation of mosquitoes worldwide that causes outbreaks of mosquito-borne diseases. Join us this Citizen Science Sunday to help scientists understand and control mosquito populations with ease!

    6. Monarch Larva Monitoring

    7. Sunday, July 26th

    8. The monarch butterflies have returned from Mexico for the summer season. With the Monarch Larva Monitoring Project through Monarch Joint Venture, we can help scientists learn more about monarch distribution and populations. Join us for Citizen Science Sunday and help us count the monarch caterpillars on museum property; then take that knowledge home and count up the monarchs on milkweed around your own house!
