    6. EFM UnPlugged is an after-hours, screen-free museum experience for adults seeking a calm, low-stimulation evening. For one night, digital displays and audio throughout the museum will be turned off, creating a warm, tranquil, analog atmosphere.

  • March Mammal Madness

    All of March


    1. Not to be confused with NCAA college basketball March Madness, March Mammal Madness is an annual nature-based simulated competition that asks the question “Who Would Win?” when two animals encounter each other in an absurdly complex and wonderfully nerdy way. Come celebrate the mayhem with EFM.


    2. All month we will have screenings of the different battles, stations where you can create your own brackets and learn about the many different animals (and some plants) competing in this years event.

  • Jazz Night Presented by Coles Music

    5. Denis DiBlasio (Saxophone & Flute)** — An acclaimed jazz saxophonist and flutist, longtime leader of the Maynard Ferguson Institute of Jazz Studies, and former member of the Maynard Ferguson Big Bop Nouveau Band.


    6. Doug Beach (Trumpet)** — A jazz trumpeter, educator, and co-founder of the Jazz Showcase Education Program who has performed internationally and directed numerous honor jazz ensembles.


    7. Mike Davis (Trombone)** — A versatile jazz trombonist known for his work with major big bands and for touring and recording with artists such as The Rolling Stones.


    8. Doug Mapp (Bass)** — An accomplished jazz bassist and educator who has performed with leading jazz artists and frequently appears at festivals and clinics across the United States.


    9. Behn Gillece (Vibraphone)** — An award-winning jazz vibraphonist, composer, and bandleader recognized as a winner of the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz International Vibraphone Competition.


    10. Dr. Kenneth Lacovara (Drums)** — A former professional jazz drummer, renowned paleontologist, and founding executive director of Edelman Fossil Park & Museum, best known for discovering the massive dinosaur Dreadnoughtus.

    1. Homeschool families can now join us for a fun day of exploration and learning at the Edelman Fossil Park & Museum! Homeschool families can get a special program or workshop focused on a different theme every time they visit and the opportunity to touch real fossils and specimens. Programs begin at 11am on the dates below.

  • Citizen Science: What’s the weather like on Mars? A Do NASA Science LIVE! Event

    Thursday, April 2nd • 2pm


    1. Join us for a special Citizen Science Month event as we partner with SciStarter for Acts of Science: Connected: a global day of action bringing communities together through discovery.


    2. On April 2 at 2:00 PM, we’ll host a live-stream event in the EFM Theater featuring Cloudspotting on Mars, a NASA-supported citizen science project. Participants will help identify and study clouds high in the Martian atmosphere, contributing to real NASA research.


    3. During this interactive broadcast, you’ll:

    4. -Learn how scientists study clouds on Mars

    5. -Hear directly from researchers behind the project

    6. -Ask questions and get hands-on guidance

    7. -Discover how to continue contributing from home

    8. No science background is needed — just curiosity and a willingness to explore the Red Planet. Come be part of a global community making real discoveries, together.

  • Citizen Science

    Monthly • Check for Upcoming Dates


    1. Welcome to Citizen Science - a free, hands-on program where visitors of all ages can take part in real scientific research. These sessions spotlight a unique citizen science project each week. Guests can explore new tools, contribute data, and connect with both local and global scientific efforts.


    2. April is Citizen Science Month, and we’ll be celebrating with special themed activities and expanded opportunities to get involved.

    6. April is SciStarter’s Citizen Science Month and to mark America’s 250th birthday this year, they’re aiming to log 2.50 Million acts of science over these four weeks. Join us for this special edition of Citizen Science Saturday with an introduction to SciStarter, the place to be for citizen science opportunities of all kinds.



    7. Ant Picnic

    9. Easter may be over, but ants are still on the hunt for a feast! Ant Picnic is a citizen science opportunity studying the food preferences of ants at different times of year in different places around the world. Look at our local ant species under a microscope and record what foods they seem to prefer.



    10. Frog Watch

    12. Ever wonder who’s making those croaking and peeping sounds out by the pond? Edelman Fossil Park and Museum is now a proud chapter of FrogWatch USA; this Citizen Science Sunday we’ll be training you in how to identify and document frog and toad calls for conservation research.
